2024 Mock Meet at Brighton Forest
Brighton Forest
Start: 5:30 PM
Warm-up: 5:00 PM
End: 8:00 PM

Our first swim meet is one week away! In order to prepare, we will have a Mock Swim Meet here at Brighton Forest on June 3rd.

  • Date: Monday, June 3rd
  • Location: Brighton Forest Pool
  • Setup: 4:15 PM
  • Swimmer Check-In: 4:30-5:00 PM
  • Warmups: 5:00-5:25 PM
  • First Event: 5:30 PM
  • Heat Sheet
  • Swimmer Check-In

The pool will remain open to all residents. Parking is limited, as always. You are encouraged to walk, bike, or carpool to the pool. We will not be able to park on the grass under the powerlines for this meet. Make sure to bring a heavy snack or dinner as there won’t be any concessions at this meet. We also recommend bringing water.

We will only swim freestyle relays if there is time after all other events have been completed. All 6&U swimmers and families may leave after the 6&U breaststroke event.

We ask that you help us to make the meet run smoothly and quickly. We would like to finish the meet as close to 7:30 PM as possible so that we can get all of the kids home and allow the lifeguards to close the pool on schedule.

We need all swimmers at the pool and ready to swim by 5:00 PM. Coaches, please arrive at 4:15 PM.

If you are part of the Setup Crew, we need you at the pool at 4:15 PM. The coaches will install the lane ropes and flags first. The Check-In, Announcer, Starter, and Timing Stations can be set up at the same time. Once the lane ropes are installed, the starting blocks and Clerk of Course area can be set up.

If you are doing Check-In, we need you at the pool at 4:15 PM to be ready to begin check-in swimmers and volunteers promptly at 4:30 PM. Once the lane ropes and flags are set up, the Junior Coaches will assist with check-in as needed until warmups begin.

Announcers, Clerks of Course, Kid Pushers, Starters, and Timers should arrive by 5:00 PM so that we can begin the meet promptly at 5:30 PM.

All members of the Cleanup Crew can begin once we have finished the last events. Our goal is to be out the doors by 8:00 PM.

Click the Meet Entry button to declare your swimmer. You must declare your swimmer for them to be in the lineup for the meet.

Click the Job Signup button to sign up to volunteer. If all volunteer slots are filled, then please still come prepared to share the volunteering load with others. For example, offer to be a Timer for 30 minutes to give someone a break or help with the Kid Pushers.

Review our home meet routine to learn what time you -- swimmers and volunteers -- need to arrive and how the day will go.

Parking: Parking is limited and we would like to reserve as many spaces as possible for our guests. Please review the parking information. We ask that all Silver Fins families walk, bike, or carpool. When you arrive, please follow the directions of the parking attendant.

Seating: Please leave the RIGHT side of the pool deck, near the slide, for Bella Casa. We try to utilize the left 2/3 of the pool deck and our guests take the right 1/3. We recommend bringing chairs from home because many of the pool chairs will be needed for volunteers and coaches.

Concessions: Cash only, pizza, Chick-fil-A sandwiches, drinks, snacks, etc.

Results: Times will not be given to swimmers. All results will be shared after the meet. Times will be available during the meet if you purchase the SwimTopia Mobile App Pro Subscription. All results are unofficial until after the meet and all meet administrators have reviewed them.

Spectators: Please stay behind the yellow ropes at both ends of the pool at all times. The Swimmers, Kid Pushers, Clerk of Course, Timers, Judges, and other officials and volunteers will need to be able to move freely in these areas in order to fulfill their responsibilities. This will help us to keep the meet moving so everyone can get home at a reasonable time.

Things to Bring:

  • Swim caps
  • Team shirts
  • Towels
  • Goggles
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Chairs
  • Water (Stay hydrated!)

Click the Job Signup button to sign up to volunteer. Even consider sharing a role with another family. One family can sign up to volunteer at this meet and another family can sign up to volunteer at another meet. But split the job at both meets so you never have to work a full meet.

Seating: The areas to the Northeast and Southeast of the deck are for our team to use during the swim meet. Due to the likelihood of a sunny, hot day, feel free to bring some pop up tents for your area to provide additional shade. Please stay in the section of the pool where the meet is occurring. Do not enter the other pool areas.

Final Score: Brighton Forest 144 Amberly 368

Overall Record: 1-3-1, Division 8 Record: 0-2

New Records:

  • Boys 13-14 50 Butterfly: Sam McNeal (30.83*)

Personal Bests:

Amberly's pool is measured in meters. 25 meters is 27.34 yards. Not all swimmers had entry times and the result times were not converted from meters to yards when generating the report. Both of these circumstances made it difficult to determine who achieved personal records. Luckily, there are other post-meet reports that do convert the times, making it possible to identify personal bests -- with a little effort.

The 6&U times are harder to compute. The distance swam was 14 meters as opposed to 15 yards. Times are not converted when the numerical values of the distances are not equal. For example, 14 and 15 are not equal so the 6&U times are not converted, while 25 and 25 are equal so the times for 7-18 year-olds are converted. Because 14 meters is 15.31 yards, we can make an unofficial estimate that any 6&U swimmer achieved a personal best if their unconverted time over 14 meters was faster than their personal best time over 15 yards.

Once we had a list of personal bests relative to 2023, those times were cross-referenced against each swimmer's all-time personal bests. Look at all these improvements! (Note that all times have been converted from meters to yards.)

Seating: Please leave the RIGHT side of the pool deck, near the slide, for Kildaire Farms.

Click the Meet Entry button to declare your swimmer. You must declare your swimmers by the deadline for them to swim.

Click the Job Signup button to sign up to volunteer. Even consider sharing a role with another family. One family can sign up to volunteer at this meet and another family can sign up to volunteer at another meet. But split the job at both meets so you never have to work a full meet.

Overall Record: 1-2-1, Division 8 Record: 0-1

The meet had to be postponed on Wednesday due to weather and could not be completed on Thursday, again due to weather. By rule the meet was declared a tie.
