2024 Mock Meet at Brighton Forest
Brighton Forest
Start: 5:30 PM
Warm-up: 5:00 PM
End: 8:00 PM
Our first swim meet is one week away! In order to prepare, we will have a Mock Swim Meet here at Brighton Forest on June 3rd.
The pool will remain open to all residents. Parking is limited, as always. You are encouraged to walk, bike, or carpool to the pool. We will not be able to park on the grass under the powerlines for this meet. Make sure to bring a heavy snack or dinner as there won’t be any concessions at this meet. We also recommend bringing water. We will only swim freestyle relays if there is time after all other events have been completed. All 6&U swimmers and families may leave after the 6&U breaststroke event. We ask that you help us to make the meet run smoothly and quickly. We would like to finish the meet as close to 7:30 PM as possible so that we can get all of the kids home and allow the lifeguards to close the pool on schedule. We need all swimmers at the pool and ready to swim by 5:00 PM. Coaches, please arrive at 4:15 PM. If you are part of the Setup Crew, we need you at the pool at 4:15 PM. The coaches will install the lane ropes and flags first. The Check-In, Announcer, Starter, and Timing Stations can be set up at the same time. Once the lane ropes are installed, the starting blocks and Clerk of Course area can be set up. If you are doing Check-In, we need you at the pool at 4:15 PM to be ready to begin check-in swimmers and volunteers promptly at 4:30 PM. Once the lane ropes and flags are set up, the Junior Coaches will assist with check-in as needed until warmups begin. Announcers, Clerks of Course, Kid Pushers, Starters, and Timers should arrive by 5:00 PM so that we can begin the meet promptly at 5:30 PM. All members of the Cleanup Crew can begin once we have finished the last events. Our goal is to be out the doors by 8:00 PM. Click the Meet Entry button to declare your swimmer. You must declare your swimmer for them to be in the lineup for the meet. Click the Job Signup button to sign up to volunteer. If all volunteer slots are filled, then please still come prepared to share the volunteering load with others. For example, offer to be a Timer for 30 minutes to give someone a break or help with the Kid Pushers.

Personal Bests: Amberly's pool is measured in meters. 25 meters is 27.34 yards. Not all swimmers had entry times and the result times were not converted from meters to yards when generating the report. Both of these circumstances made it difficult to determine who achieved personal records. Luckily, there are other post-meet reports that do convert the times, making it possible to identify personal bests -- with a little effort. The 6&U times are harder to compute. The distance swam was 14 meters as opposed to 15 yards. Times are not converted when the numerical values of the distances are not equal. For example, 14 and 15 are not equal so the 6&U times are not converted, while 25 and 25 are equal so the times for 7-18 year-olds are converted. Because 14 meters is 15.31 yards, we can make an unofficial estimate that any 6&U swimmer achieved a personal best if their unconverted time over 14 meters was faster than their personal best time over 15 yards. Once we had a list of personal bests relative to 2023, those times were cross-referenced against each swimmer's all-time personal bests. Look at all these improvements! (Note that all times have been converted from meters to yards.)
